Used machine tools
Gear hobber
Gear hobbing means all machining processes for which the production of specific forms is achieved through the removal of material using a cutting tool. These techniques allow the production of serrated workpieces, gears or even pinions, primarily intended for aeronautic and automotive industries, to clock industry, and to those relevant to precision engineering, among others. Gear hobbing of the workpieces may be straight, interior, conical, spiro-conical or helicol. It depends on the application and the type of the workpiece. Among the different techniques of gear cutting and corresponding machine tools, we distinguish the gear cutting of nets (using the machine called nets gear cutter), the gear cutting by knife (knife gear cutter), the shaving cutter (for superfinishing work through removing, by sheeting out, a small oversize left during gear cutting), and generation gear cutting. The generation
gear hobbing is therefore the type of machine tool of interest here. It is a machining equipment which general operating principle is the following: the shaping of desired profile is done through the action of a cutting tool which different passages are tangent to this profile. There is a variety of models of generation gear cutters for sale on the
second-hand market. However, these machine tools need to be carefully checked to guarantee a working condition and performance levels the closest possible to those offered by first hand equipments. This is exactly the kind of expertise offered by RDMO workshops. RDMO experts are fully aware of the specifics of generation gear cutters, like other types of machine tools they are responsible for inspecting and maintaining. The major stakeholders in the field generation gear cutters are
Koepfer, Mikron, EMAG, Monnier Zahner, or Wahli. These brands enjoy an excellent reputation in this field.
